“Buck” (William Gordon) Buchanan passed away April 7, 2014 in his home from injuries sustained from a fall.

Born in Bowling Green, KY on May 9, 1936 to James Malcom Buchanan and Lassie Pheen Bullington, he moved to Indianapolis with his family and attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis; he married Nancy Ann Balay in 1957 (divorced in 1972).

Surviving are one sister (Joyce Lemoins of St. Louis, MO), three brothers (James, Ronald and Donald of Indianapolis),  and two sons (C. Jeffery of Lafayette and W. Gary of Indianapolis). He was preceded in death in 2010 by his only daughter, Leah Kay of Indianapolis.

Buck is an accomplished carpenter, wood worker, and construction perfectionist. He is a member of the American Legion # 470, and Masonic Lodge of Fishers. Family, friends and the restaurants of Bob Evans and Nickel Plate will certainly miss his quick wit, whistling speech and turn of a joke or funny story.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 10, 2014 at the American Legion 470, 9091 E 126th Street, Fishers, IN from 2:00-6:00 p.m. A memorial ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by celebration.

Buck was an interesting, funny, one of a kind person. He could always come up with a good joke. He was always willing to help his friends and indeed was a perfectionist. He will be missed.

    Ronnie and Donnie,
He sounds like he was a wonderful person just like both of you are. I am keeping you both in my prayers. If you are no longer of this earth, you are with Christ. May God Bless you both and hold you in His arms and comfort you.

Gary, Laura and family. So sorry to hear about your Dad. He was truly one of a kind. Ft. Myers Beach and the Nickel Plate won’t ever be quite the same. I can’t attend the service, I’ll be in Jamaica. Hope to see you soon.
